This application is a free, non-commercial Christian reference and apologetics resource. It is designed to run from your device: everything except the optional Bible audio (which streams over the internet) works fully offline. We do not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal information about you, ever. This privacy policy explains, in plain language, exactly what that means and what limited information is stored locally on your device for the app to function.
This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the Truth & Foundation application (the "App") on every platform where it is offered, including the editions installed from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
The Truth & Foundation app is fundamentally different from most modern applications: it does not collect any personal information about you. Specifically, we do not collect, store, transmit, or process:
There are no user accounts. There is no login. There is no sign-up. The app does not have the ability to collect this information because none of these features exist in the application.
For the app to remember your preferences between sessions, a small amount of non-personal data is stored on your device — in the app's local storage and, in the installed app, the operating system's app-preferences store. This data never leaves your device, is never transmitted to us, and is never accessible to anyone but you. The stored items are:
You can clear this data at any time by uninstalling the app, or by clearing the app's storage in your device settings. Doing so resets all preferences to their defaults and does not affect anything else on your device.
The Truth & Foundation app does not use:
The only permission the app ever requests is notification permission, and only if you turn on the optional Daily Verse reminder. The app never requests access to your camera, microphone, photos, contacts, calendar, location, health data, or any other device capability. (If you play Bible audio, your device may continue playback in the background — standard audio behavior that requires no permission.)
The app relies on the following third-party services. Each is described plainly below, including exactly what is and is not shared:
The complete Berean Standard Bible ships inside the app, so Scripture normally loads entirely from your device with no network request at all. Only if a bundled chapter cannot be read does the app fall back to fetching that chapter from the AO Lab Free Use Bible API (bible.helloao.org), the nonprofit service the bundled text comes from.
What is shared with AO Lab (only if the fallback is used): their servers receive the same information any internet request includes — your IP address (used only to route the response back to your device), your device's browser engine type, and which book and chapter was requested. No name, account, or personally identifying information is sent, because the app holds none. AO Lab's use of this data is governed by their own privacy policy.
What is NOT shared: Your preferences, your activity elsewhere in the app, how long you read, or anything you do outside the Bible reader are never sent to AO Lab.
The Bible reader offers an optional audio narration of each chapter. These are public-domain recordings produced by OpenBible.com, streamed over the internet from AO Lab's audio service (audio.bible.helloao.org). Audio is the app's only routine network use: nothing is requested unless you open the audio player and press play, and reading the text never contacts it. (Audio requires an internet connection; the app shows a notice instead when offline.)
What is shared when you play a chapter: the audio server receives the same information any internet request includes — your IP address (used only to deliver the audio to your device), your device's browser engine type, and which chapter recording you requested. No name, account, or personally identifying information is sent, because the app holds none. AO Lab's use of this data is governed by their own privacy policy.
What is NOT shared: Your preferences, your activity elsewhere in the app, or anything you do outside playing audio are never sent to anyone.
Apart from the services described above, the app does not use any other third-party services, libraries loaded at runtime, software development kits (SDKs), or external dependencies that could collect or transmit your data.
Some features use your device's own system capabilities rather than any service of ours: the share feature hands the verse text or image you compose to your device's system share sheet, and it goes only to the app or person you choose there; the optional rate-the-app prompt is the standard in-app review dialog provided and operated by Apple or Google under their own policies; and the Daily Verse reminder is the local notification described in Section 4. The app itself receives no data from any of these.
To state it in the plainest terms: we do not share user data with any third party, because we hold none — and no third party receives anything from this app beyond the standard technical request data described above, initiated only by your own actions.
The app contains links to YouTube channels, websites, books, and resources operated by third parties. These links are provided for educational reference. When you tap or click an external link:
External links are clearly marked. Common external destinations include YouTube channels of Christian apologists, biblical archaeologists, scholars, and ministries. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or partnered with any of these third parties. We link to their content because we believe it is valuable for Christian education and study.
The Truth & Foundation app does not collect donations or process any payments. There is no in-app purchasing, no payment processor, no donation button, and no checkout of any kind within the app. No payment information is ever requested, collected, seen, or stored by the app.
The optional “Support the App” page describes only free, non-financial ways to help the work, such as praying for the app and its users, sharing the app with others, leaving a review, and sending feedback. None of these involve money or any transfer of personal or financial information.
The Truth & Foundation app references many Christian scholars, apologists, archaeologists, pastors, teachers, ministries, publishers, YouTube channels, and other third parties for educational purposes. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, partnered with, or compensated by any of them.
Mention of a person, organization, book, video, or channel does not imply that they endorse this application or its content. References are made on the basis of our own evaluation of the educational value of their work, and we have not sought or received their permission to reference them by name. All trademarks, names, and identifying marks are the property of their respective owners.
If you are a referenced individual or organization and would prefer that we remove or modify a reference to your work, please contact us using the information at the bottom of this policy. We will respond promptly and respectfully.
All Scripture quotations in the app are from The Berean Standard Bible (BSB), which has been dedicated to the public domain. The BSB is produced in cooperation with Bible Hub, Discovery Bible, OpenBible.com, and the Berean Bible Translation Committee. We use the BSB exclusively in this application out of respect for its translation quality, its accuracy, and its creators' decision to make God's Word freely available to all. The Bible text bundled inside the app, and its online fallback, come from AO Lab and their Free Use Bible API, a nonprofit effort that serves the public-domain Berean Standard Bible to applications free of charge and without usage restrictions. We are deeply grateful for their ministry, and for the Berean Bible team's gift of a freely usable translation. Their generosity reflects the heart of the Gospel itself:
The optional chapter audio is the public-domain Berean Standard Bible narration produced by OpenBible.com — recorded by narrators including Bob Souer, Barry Hays, and Jordan Gilbert — and streamed from AO Lab's audio service. We thank these narrators for lending their voices to God's Word and offering the recordings freely for all to use.
The app references academic publications, books, and research findings from many authors and scholars. These references are made for educational purposes consistent with fair-use principles: short quotations and summaries that point readers to the original sources. We do not reproduce substantial portions of any copyrighted work. All claims are sourced.
The app uses Font Awesome icons (a widely used icon library) bundled locally with the application. The original visual design, layout, and content of the app are the original work of the application's creator, copyrighted as noted below.
The Truth & Foundation app is suitable for users of all ages, including children. The app complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by design: because we do not knowingly collect personal information from any user, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions where that is the protected age).
Parents and guardians can be confident that this app does not gather, track, profile, or share their children's information.
Because the app does not collect or store personal information on any server we operate, there is no central database for an attacker to compromise. The only data stored is on your own device, in the app's own storage, accessible only to you.
The app's pages, Scripture, and images ship inside the app itself. The few network requests the app can make — streaming chapter audio, and the rare Bible-text fallback — are encrypted over HTTPS to industry standards.
Data retention, plainly: we retain nothing, because we receive nothing. There is no server-side record of you to keep or to delete. The preference data described in Section 3 remains on your device only, for as long as you keep the app, and is destroyed entirely when you uninstall it or clear the app's storage.
The Truth & Foundation app is available to users worldwide. Because the app does not collect personal information, the following international privacy frameworks are satisfied by default:

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the law or in the way the app works. Any material changes will be reflected in an updated "Last Updated" date at the bottom of this page. The current version of this policy is always available within the app.
Continued use of the app after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. If a future change involves any data collection (which is not currently planned), we will give clear, prominent notice within the app before that change takes effect.
This Privacy Policy and the app's use are governed by the laws of the United States of America and the state in which the developer resides, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Users from other countries who choose to access the app do so on their own initiative.

This policy is published on the Truth & Foundation website, which follows the same principle as the app: no accounts, no cookies, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking of any kind. The site's fonts and design assets are served from the website itself, not from any third-party service. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages; as with any website, the host briefly handles your device's IP address as a normal part of delivering the pages, under Cloudflare's own privacy terms. We never see, store, or analyze that information ourselves.
Links that leave this site, including the app, the Apple App Store and Google Play, donation providers, and email links, are governed by their own privacy policies. If you choose to email us, we receive only what you send (your message and your email address), and we use it only to reply. The optional launch-notification form works the same way: it delivers your address to us as a single email, used only to send you the one launch announcement. It is not stored in any database, is never shared, and will be discarded on request. The prayer-request form on the prayer page works the same way: what you write is delivered to us as a single email so we can pray for you, is not stored in any database, and is never shared.
This app exists to point readers to Jesus Christ — to the truth of Scripture, the reliability of the Gospel, and the hope of the Resurrection. We have built it with care, including the care of not taking anything from you. You are welcome here without giving anything in return.
